The Adelaide Central Market has established itself as one of Australia’s finest fresh produce markets providing products from a vast and diverse cultural range.

It is one of Adelaide’s best known landmarks and is the most frequented location in Adelaide with over 8 million visits per year.

The Grote Street entry to the Markets is currently undefined and it is unclear to visitors they are entering this significant location. Vast expanses of paving result in the space functioning in a transitional way with vistors exposed to the elements. The entry lacks a sense of arrival and the space lacks elements to entice visitors to stay and utilise the area. 

The design package addressed these issues and provided a vibrant destination to one of Adelaide’s most important destinations.
